How LaserBody M.D. Chemical Peels Treatment Works

LaserBody M.D. Chemical Peels can improve uneven skin tone, acne, texture, scarring, and discoloration or reduce a sun-damaged appearance. If you want to give your skin a more rejuvenated, youthful appearance, book a consultation so we can discuss the chemical peels offered at LaserBody M.D.

After cleaning your face, the chemical peel is applied using a gauze, brush or a cotton swap. The chemical solution removes the top cell layers of the skin to reveal a fresh, new skin surface.

You may feel some stinging or burning. A fan, manual or electric, may be used for cooling during the treatment. Dry, cold packs can also be used after the procedure if needed.

Usually starting from Day 2, the post-peel skin reaction consists of a few days of mild to moderate erythema or reddening of the skin, and flaking, followed by a visibly renewed appearance.

  • 1What are the different types of chemical peels that LaserBody M.D. offers?

    Jessner Chemical Peel

The Jessner Peel is a SkinTx pharmaceutical grade resurfacing procedure that aggressively removes hyperpigmentation, fine lines, acne breakouts, and acne scars. This deep acid peel treatment utilizes 14% lactic acid for skin exfoliation, 14% salicylic acid for better skin penetration, and 14% resorcinol for treating acne. These three main ingredients combined result in softer fine lines, corrected hyperpigmentation, lesser blemishes, and decreased pore size giving you an overall youthful glow.

    Vivier Chemical Peel

The Vivier Peel is a gentle treatment under VivierSkin specially formulated with ingredients to treat skin that suffers from oiliness, dryness, acne, aging, sun damage, and redness. Using 10% lactic acid, 2% salicylic acid, and 14% resorcinol, the Vivier Peel provides gentle exfoliation and stimulates collagen formation resulting in younger and healthier looking skin.

  • 2Are chemical peels ideal for everyone?

Chemicals peels are a safe treatment whether you’re a first time or a regular user. While it is strong compared to other skin treatments, the positive effects of peeling days after the treatment are dramatic.

Chemical peels not recommended that you undergo a chemical peel if you have an allergy or sensitivity to aspirin, an active skin infection or inflammation, hypersensitive skin, sunburnt skin, active acne, open wounds, have recently underwent through a chemical peel or exfoliation treatments, have recently taken or will take Accutane, or if you are pregnant.

  • 3What can I expect from a chemical peel?

After checking your skin condition, the skin care medical professional will cleanse your skin, apply protective pads for your eyes, and distribute the solution using a special brush. By the end of the treatment, the specialist will apply a gentle moisturizer on your face and neck.

The chemical peel procedure is generally tolerable although each patient’s experience might be slightly different from the other. You may experience a slight stinging and tingling which is a normal side effect of the procedure and will subside after a few minutes.

Immediately after the treatment, your skin will appear red for at least 20 minutes. The following 3-5 days will also see red, irritated, dry skin which appears like a mild sunburn. By the fifth day, the peel will have already been completely removed. This is dead skin being removed making way for healthier skin on the surface.

Future visits for the treatment will require lesser downtime.

  • 4How long will my chemical peel treatment last?

Chemical peel treatments typically last 30 to 60 minutes depending on the type of treatment you choose.

  • 5What do I need to do after my chemical peel treatment?

Rinse your skin gently using warm water and pat dry using a soft cloth. Only use skin care products recommended by your doctor.

Avoid rubbing, picking, or peeling the skin as this may result in scarring. Avoid any creams that contain retinol or hydroquinone for the first week after your first peel treatment.

Avoid other facial treatments and sun exposure within two weeks after the procedure. If you must go out, wear sunblock.

  • 6How many chemical peel treatments will I need?

The frequency of chemical peel treatments depends on your skin’s condition. Two chemical peel treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is recommended, to be followed by maintenance treatments. 3 chemical peels every year is generally enough to maintain the clarity of your skin.

For optimal results, we recommend that you do maintenance using SkinTx Skin Care System or VivierSkin’s Skin Care System which helps you achieve softer, clearer, and even skin. This skin care system comes in five classifications each suited for your skin’s needs: normal to dry, combination to oily, adult acne, teenage and young adult acne, and hyperpigmentation.

Patient testimonials

  • I’ve been to many beauty spas but I’ve never dabbled with fillers until I discovered a clinic that I could fully trust. It was LaserBody M.D.. I expected to feel nervous during the treatment but I wasn’t. The doctor assured me that the procedure was safe and carefully administered the injections in my desired areas. The results are so good. You wouldn’t think the procedure only took 15 minutes!

    Candelaria T., 40 Brampton, ON
  • I received a lot of compliments from my colleague’s days after I got the Cosmetic Dermal Fillers from LaserBody M.D.. I got the look exactly how I wanted it thanks to the skilled doctor who was very careful with my skin. He made sure he got the areas that I asked for and gave me advise on how to maintain the results until my next treatment.

Judy Klingbeil, 34, Richmond Hill, ON
  • I got my very first cosmetic fillers from LaserBody M.D.. Theirs is called Juvederm and it’s a very quick, painless, and an effective way of removing wrinkles, fine lines, and scars. The doctor who performed the procedure took less than an hour to do it. It’s been three months since my treatment and I am happy that the results look the same as they were from the day I got the fillers.
