Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions about CoolSculpting
that we receive from our clients.

Please contact us if you have more questions. We are always here for you!

What Conditions can Coolsculpting treat?

CoolSculpting can be used to treat:

Tummy pouch (pot belly)

Fat on the inner thighs

Fat on the outer thighs (saddle bags)

Fat on the flanks (muffin top)

Fat on the arms

Fatty bra line

Pesky fat on the knees

Double chin

Is Coolsculpting safe?

Since the skin and tissues that surround the fat cells are water based, they can withstand much lower temperatures than the fat cells themselves. This allows the carefully controlled cooling device to only freeze the fat, leaving the rest of the body unharmed.

How much does Coolsculpting cost?

Our medical professionals will meet with you to discuss your body contouring goals to see how many treatments you will need to help you reach those goals. Each individual is different so cost can vary on the amount of fat in the area, the desire results, age and body shape/ size.

How long will my Coolsculpting results last?

Rather than shrinking the fat cells, CoolSculpting gets rid of them completely. This means that you can enjoy long-lasting results without fear that the fat cells you lost will be return.

Are there any side effects to Coolsculpting?

Pulling, tugging, and mild pinching sensations may be felt during your CoolSculpting procedure. You may also feel cramping, aching, stinging, tingling, and intense cold, but these side effects subside quickly as the treatment continues.

After the treatment, there may be redness, firmness, swelling, mild bruising, cramping, or tenderness. These are all temporary and should dissipate quickly, though you should contact us if any of this continue after 2 weeks.

Rare side effects include freeze burn, paradoxical hyperplasia, vasovagal symptoms, subcutaneous induration, hyperpigmentation, late-onset pain, and hernias. These, however, are extremely uncommon.

Does Coolsculpting hurt?

Although there may be some discomfort to begin with, such as intense cold, stinging, cramping, and aching, it only lasts for about 5 minutes until the area becomes numb. After that, the Coolsculpting procedure is very comfortable, allowing the patient to read, use their laptops, or even take a nap during their treatment.

Who is the ideal candidate for Coolsculpting?

The perfect CoolSculpting candidate is someone who is close to their ideal weight, with some noticeable excess fat that they would like to get rid of. CoolSculpting isn’t a cure for obesity, although multiple treatments would result in losing more fat.

How long are my Coolsculpting sessions?

CoolSculpting treatments can vary from 30 minutes or more, but they’re generally an hour long and very comfortable. Allowing you to read, check your emails, or even take a nap while going through treatment.

Is there any downtime after my Coolsculpting session?

Since the CoolSculpting treatments are non-surgical, there is no downtime. You will be able to go about your everyday activities as soon as your treatment is finished.

When will I see my Coolsculpting results?

You’ll see your optimal results approximately 12 weeks after your final treatment. It takes time for your body to get rid of destroyed fat cells, which is why it takes this long. Slow and steady wins the race!  Make sure to follow a healthy lifestyle if you want to see your results sooner!

Is there any after care for Coolsculpting?
Typically, there is minimal discomfort and recoery time after the Coolsculpting procedure. Most patients are able to return to their faily routine immediately after the procedure.

  • Many patients experience redness in the treated area for up to a few hours after the applicator is removed. In rare cases, it may persist for up to two weeks.
  • Many patients have minimal discomfort following the procedure; however, you may experience one or more of the following sensation: swelling, itching, tingling, numbness, tenderness to the touch, pain in the treated area, cramping, aching, bruising, and/or skin sensitivity. Consult your doctor if these conditions persist beyond two weeks or worsen over time.
  • Following the procedure, a gradual reduction in the thickness of the fat layer will take place. You may start to see changes as early as 4-6 weeks after the Coolsculpting procedure. And you will experience the most dramatic results after 3 months. Your body will continue to naturally process the injured fat cells from your body for approximately four months after your procedure.
  • We encourage you to increase your daily water intake to 1.5-2 litres.
  • Tight garments such as Spanx or cold/hot compress to help with any pain.
  • An appointment with a Naturopath is highly recommended to assist in a Detox following your Coolsculpting treatment. (This is offered onsite, ask your nurse.)
