Fraxel Skin Rejuvenation is an FDA-approved fractional laser technology that helps restore damaged skin to its original state.  The result is an improvement in fine lines and wrinkles, tone and texture, smaller pore size, erases brown spots, acne scars, and even improves stretch marks and surgical scars. Fraxel Laser tricks your skin into creating new skin to replace the damaged areas, resulting in natural skin rejuvenation and takes years off of your appearance without the risks, side effects or prolonged downtime of other procedures.

  • The Fraxel treatment lasts about 1-2 hours per session
  • The procedure involves the use of a Fraxel laser scanning hand piece to administer the fractional laser therapy to the areas of your body that require skin rejuvenation
  • For best results, you may be required to repeat the procedure up to 6 times over several months
  • After the procedure, you may experience a mild to moderate “sunburn” like sensation, but this fades away as your skin begins natural rejuvenation
  • The procedure involves 3-6 sessions, each spaced out 4-8 weeks apart depending on the individual skin type and condition targeted
  • Skin Care Pre-Treatment may be required at the discretion of your Medical Expert

  • Avoid the use of active ingredients such as: topical vitamin C, vitamin A, Retinol, AHA, glycolic’s etc. 1 week before your procedure
  • Avoid direct sun exposure/active tanning a minimum of 2 weeks before your procedure
  • Avoid excessive heat such as: saunas, hot tubs + hot yoga on the day of your procedure
  • Avoid waxing or lasers in the treatment area 1 week before treatment

Immediately after your Fraxel treatment, you will experience redness and swelling. You will notice most of the swelling on the first morning after treatment, particularly under the eyes. Swelling usually lasts 2 – 3 days

To minimize swelling:

  • Apply cold compresses to the treatment area for
10 minutes every hour on the day of treatment – until you go to bed
  • Change your pillowcases as soon as you get home to decrease the chances of infection
  • Sleep with your head elevated the first night. Use as many pillows as you can tolerate

  • You may also notice that your skin appears bronzed and/or little dark dots appear on the treated area
  • Your skin may feel dry, peel, or flake. This as well as the dots means the treated tissue is working its way out of your body as new fresh skin is regenerating
  • Some patients have also experienced itching
  • Heat sensation can be intense for the following 2 – 3 hours. Occasionally oozing can occur in isolated areas for a few days as well.  Use icepacks to help alleviate the heat sensation

Take care of your skin:

  • Continue using only a cleanser and moisturizer over the next few days.
  • Once the sloughing starts, please allow your skin to heal
  • DO NOT scrub, rub, or use exfoliants
  • Keep clothing away from treated body parts as much as possible to avoid irritation
  • You may continue use of your bleaching cream/HQ, 1 week AFTER your Fraxel appointment

First Week of Healing

  • Keep treated area clean
  • Avoid smoking + excessive alcohol consumption
  • Avoid excessive exercise + perspiring
  • Avoid swimming or exposing skin to heat and sun (i.e. tanning beds, hot yoga)
