COOLSCULPTING CARE SHEET

Coolsculpting is an FDA-cleared, non-surgical treatment that freezes fat. It uses controlled cooling to target and eliminate fat cells without affecting any of the surrounding tissue. Your body processes the fat and eliminates it from the body naturally. While dieting and exercise shrinks your fat cells, Coolsculpting kills fat cells completely, allowing you to enjoy long-lasting results.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Your nurse will record your weight, obtain measurements and take before and after photos (try to wear the same black undergarments for each photo). This helps recognize your results
  • Although there may be some discomfort to begin with, such as intense cold, stinging, cramping, and aching, it only lasts for about 5 to 10 minutes until the area becomes numb. After that, the Coolsculpting procedure is very comfortable, allowing the patient to read, use their laptops, or even take a nap during their treatment. The complete session lasts anywhere from 35 min to 1 hour 15 min
  • Pulling, tugging, and mild pinching sensations may be felt during your Coolsculpting. With the Cooladvantage applicator, this is completely eliminated
  • After the treatment, there may be redness, firmness, swelling, mild bruising, cramping, or tenderness These are all temporary and should dissipate quickly, though you should contact a doctor if any of this continues after 24 hours.
  • Wear inexpensive undergarments + bring an extra pair to wear home. (Coolsculpting gel pad may leave residue on your clothing)
  • Since the Coolsculpting treatments are non-surgical, there is no downtime. You will be able to go about your day to day activities as soon as your treatment is finished

AFTER CARE

  • Typically, there is minimal discomfort and recovery time after the Coolsculpting procedure. Most patients are able to return to their daily routine immediately after the procedure.
  • Many patients experience redness in the treated area for up to a few hours after the applicator is removed. In rare cases, it may persist for up to two weeks
  • Many patients have minimal discomfort following the procedure; however, you may experience one or more of the following sensations: swelling, itching, tingling, numbness, tenderness to the touch, pain in the treated area, cramping, aching, bruising and/or skin sensitivity. Consult your doctor if these conditions persist beyond two weeks or worsen over time
  •  You may start to see changes as early as 4-6 weeks after the Coolsculpting procedure. And you will experience the most dramatic results after 3 months. Your body will continue to naturally process the injured fat cells from your body for approximately four months after your procedure
  • We encourage you to increase your daily water intake to 2-5 litres
  • Tight garments such as Spanx or cold/hot compress to help with any discomfort
  • An appointment with a Naturopath is highly recommended to assist in a Detox following your Coolsculpting (This is offered onsite, ask your nurse)
  • Rare side effects include freeze burn, paradoxical hyperplasia, vasovagal symptoms, subcutaneous induration, hyperpigmentation, late-onset pain, and hernias. These, however, are extremely uncommon
