How Fraxel Laser Scar and Stretch Mark Removal Treatment Works

The Fraxel laser achieves its effects by a revolutionary new process called fractional resurfacing. Instead of treating the entire skin surface, it treats just a fractional percentage of the skin’s surface, thereby allowing the natural ability of the skin to heal itself very quickly after treatment,

1.

Before the treatment, a topical numbing cream is applied on the skin.

2.

Actual Fraxel laser treatment approximately takes 20 minutes. During the treatment, you’ll feel a warm, prickling sensation on your skin, for which clients describe as tolerable. The laser emitted from the Fraxel device penetrate the skin to the subcutaneous layer where collagen cells reside. It causes tiny wounds inside the skin that trigger the collagen cells to begin repairing the skin in the affected area.

3.

Immediately after the treatment, your skin will feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn for 2 hours. Swelling and redness is common, but the degree will vary from person to person. Moisturizing cream can be applied to minimize the appearance of pinkness, peeling and flaking. While the skin is healing on its own, sunscreen must be applied every day to protect against sun exposure.

FAQ

Here are some questions frequently asked by our past patients. You may also contact us if you have additional questions.

  • 1What is Fraxel?

Our Fraxel scar and stretch mark removal treatment is indicated for those seeking a remedy for scar-related blemishes. These could be from childbirth, injury, or any other cause. When you arrive for your appointment, you will go through a 15-45 minute session where laser therapy will be administered to the areas affected. You will need to come back for similar sessions every 2-4 weeks for a total of on average 5 sessions. The healing process, which takes a few months, is where all the magic happens so you may not get immediate results after the session is complete. Your final results will vary depending on the severity of the scars and/or stretch marks.

Nature is often best suited to repair itself. That’s the foundational principle behind our Fraxel Laser Scar and Stretch Mark removal treatment. Using a fractional laser emitting hand device, the doctor will apply the treatment to the skin areas affected by scar tissue. The lasers emitted penetrate the skin to the subcutaneous layer where collagen cells reside. These lasers cause tiny wounds inside the skin that trigger the collagen cells to begin repairing the skin in the affected area. Through this process, the scar tissue is replaced with new non-scarred tissue over time. The result is smoother, more youthful and fresher looking skin.

  • At first, I was hesitant of the procedure but when I heard that it was non-surgical, I immediately went for it. The doctor who performed the procedure was very kind enough to make sure that I was comfortable. It only took less than an hour and I’m very satisfied with the results. My husband is too!

  • LaserBody M.D. helped me regain my confidence again. I’ve always been self-conscious about my bits down there. I’m happy to have found a clinic that has zero judgement on its patients and performs non-invasive beauty procedures such as this one. I highly recommend Thermiva to women my age or to any woman who needs the extra confidence boost.

  • A lack of vaginal lubrication was a problem for me ever since I was in my teens. This made sexual intercourse very painful. Had I known treatments such as Thermiva exist, I would have gotten it sooner. The doctor at LaserBody M.D. who handled me was very accommodating and made sure I was comfortable throughout the procedure.
